Herbal drugs are alternative drugs to herbal medicine. These herbal drugs have been used for their therapeutic properties for thousands of years especially in China where it has gained much following and prominence.

The following are ten herbal drugs that have been tried and tested by scientists. Their effectiveness as herbal drugs is without doubt. But they are not meant to replace prescription drugs.

Garlic. This herb is one of the most effective herbal drugs due to its ability to raise protective HDLs and lowers the LDLs and triglycerides or blood fats. Garlic is also effective in lowering blood pressure. It raises the body’s level of glutathione transferase which detoxifies the body of carcinogens. Garlic is also antifungal and antiviral.
